Corvette C5/C6 & Camaro 6th Gen: Coilover Buyer's Guide
Thunder Lane's Chevrolet lineup covers three kits: the standard Corvette C5/C6 TL-ONE, the Corvette C5/C6 TL-ONE Remote Reservoir, and the Camaro 6th Gen TL-ONE. Unlike some of our other platforms, there's no TL-PRO tier here yet — all three are single-adjustable systems, which makes the decision less about tier and more about which specific kit matches your car and goals.
Corvette C5/C6: standard or Remote Reservoir?
Both Corvette kits share the fundamentals: 46mm monotube dampers, 20-click rebound adjustment, CNC-machined top hats, pillowball/spherical bearing mounts, and application-specific spring rates. The difference is what happens at a lowered ride height.
The standard TL-ONE is built around fixed-length shock bodies with no wasted dead space — a straightforward, effective setup for drivers who want real performance gains without added complexity. It's also upgradeable later to a remote-reservoir 3-way configuration if your goals change.
The Remote Reservoir TL-ONE exists for a specific problem: aggressive lowering eats into available bump travel fast on a Corvette. External nitrogen reservoirs increase oil volume, which supports a damper configuration that preserves usable stroke even at a significantly lowered ride height. If you know you're setting the car low and don't want to trade away compliance to get there, this is the kit built for that.
The Corvette's rear coilover conversion
Both Corvette kits do something the Camaro kit doesn't: they replace the stock rear transverse leaf spring with true coil springs, converting the rear to a genuine coilover configuration. That's a bigger change than it sounds — we cover exactly why we do this and what it improves in a separate tech tip, but the short version is better rear wheel control and more tuning flexibility than the factory leaf-spring layout allows.
Camaro 6th Gen: built around a different problem
The Camaro TL-ONE doesn't need a leaf-spring conversion — the 6th Gen already runs a conventional coil-spring rear. Instead, this kit is built around front-end control: inverted front struts (36mm piston, 40mm body) for rigidity under load, front camber plates for alignment flexibility, and a track-baseline spring setup (12kg front / 16kg rear) that's customizable to your tire and grip level.
It's a fixed-length system, like the standard Corvette kit — the Camaro's stock geometry doesn't create the same aggressive-lowering travel problem the Corvette can, so a remote-reservoir version isn't currently part of the lineup.
What's the same across all three
Every kit in this collection is hand-assembled to order in Poland, ships with CVP and PVP dyno graphs, and can be valved specifically for street use as well as track duty — the compliance that controls the platform on track tends to ride better on the street than people expect, too. Lead time is 4–6 weeks, and coverage is a 6-month warranty that's void for track damage and covers unreasonable wear and defects only.
